Anxiety disorder is a common mental disorder. It is necessary to establish a rapid, stable and specific anxiety model to provide a theoretical basis for further research on the pathogenesis of anxiety and drug development. A single intraperitoneal injection of m-chlorophenylpipera-zine (mCPP) (1, 2, 4 mg/kg) was given to male ICR mice to establish an anxiety model, and the effects of mCPP on anxiety behavior, pain, athletic ability, passive avoidance response ability and depressive behavior of male ICR mice were evaluated. A single intraperitoneal injection of mCPP shortened the time in open arms and decreased the percentage of time in open arms of mice in the elevated plus-maze test. mCPP also shortened center zone distance and reduced the number of entries to the central zone in the open field test. Moreover, mCPP reduced head-dip counts and increased the head-dip latency of mice in the hole-board test. After being administrated with a single intraperitoneal injection of mCPP for 24h, the mice showed no significant difference in the entry into the light side and the percentage of time in the light side of the light-dark box test. A single intraperitoneal injection of mCPP had no effects on tail flick latency, rotating time, number of errors and the step-down latency, the immobility time of mice in the tail-flick test, rotarod test, step-down test and TST respectively. In conclusion, we established a rapid and stable anxiety mouse model by single intraperitoneal injection of mCPP.

Objectives: The study was conducted in a tertiary educational hospital based in Riyadh to explore faculty’s perception of using simulation-based teaching as part of the Cardiovascular Diploma Program (CDP) to improve patients’ safety. The study, also aimed to identify the benefits and challenges of utilizing simulation. Methods: Researchers used a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were conducted online with ten faculty-members. The interviews were performed between July and September in the year 2019. Authors used convenient sampling techniques for recruitment. Data were transcribed and analyzed using a framework analysis approach. Results: Data analysis showed four emergent themes, i.e., the concept of simulation (it is a risk-free environment for training), simulation for patients’ safety (students first learn on the simulators and deal with patients), simulation as a safe learning environment (gives idea basic things about the working environment, knowing the symptoms of the patients, catheterizing the patient, knowing preparations for the procedure and post care), and the challenges of utilizing simulation (identify gaps between the theoretical and practical parts). Conclusion: Faculty has appreciated the role of simulation in improving patients’ safety. Simulation was underutilized due to the limited time allotted for simulation and lack of adequate experienced faculty. 12 Tips to Improve ENT Training During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Background: The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in significant change to ENT practice, as it a high-risk speciality in terms of SARS-Cov-2 virus transmission. The reduction in theatre time, loss of face to face outpatient appointments and redeployment has contributed to significant loss of training opportunities for current ENT trainees. Aim: This paper provides twelve easy and simple tips for current ENT trainees to follow. Methods: Relevant literature was reviewed and the first named author’s personal experiences were drawn upon. Results: The twelve tips are (1) Try run a telephone clinic, (2) Evaluate face to face patients independently and make a management plan, (3) Gain formative feedback, (4) Make the ward round a learning opportunity, (5) Organise formal consultant led teaching, (6) Learn from the interprofessional team, (7) Attend online courses and webinars, (8) Take pictures when performing flexible nasoendoscopy , (9) Organise simulation sessions, (10) Gain surgical knowledge and exposure outside of the theatre setting, (11) Undertake an audit or quality improvement project and (12) Look after yourself and make mental health a priority Conclusion: These twelve tips should help the ENT trainee to maximise their learning opportunities and improve their training.
