Simulation Based Assessment of Lean and Green Strategies in Manufacturing Systems

Abstract: The increase of resource (energy and material) efficiency by eliminating unnecessary consumption represents the logical continuation from lean manufacturing to lean and green manufacturing. However, economic efficiency remains the primary decision criterion for the implementation of corresponding strategies. This paper presents a simulation based approach for monetary assessment of lean and green manufacturing systems considering non-monetary green limits. Inclusion of material and energy consumption as well a… Show more

“…In some cases, energy and material efficiencies are not sufficient; hence, the need for economic efficiency arises. Lean and simulations can be a proven combination to predict and plan the overall economic performance of an organization (Greinacher et al , 2015). Furthermore, there combination was used by Doğan and Unutulmaz (2016) to render value stream maps of both states to assess the quality and efficiency levels of the physical and rehabilitation department of health care.…”
