Simple method for increasing drug elution from polymethylmethacrylate bone cement

Abstract: ÖZAmaç: Bu çalışmada sitrik asit ve sodyum bikarbonat karışımının polimetilmetakrilat kemik çimentosunda efervesan olarak kullanımının daha iyi ilaç elüsyonu açısından etkileri araştırıldı. Show more

“…Combining inorganic antimicrobial agents such as silver nanoparticles can enhance antibacterial effectiveness. Adding porogen such as glucose [ 8 ], lactose [ 9 ], and xylitol [ 10 ] to increase the porosity of the bone cement bulk is also an effective way to improve the amount of drug release from ALBC. Among these new substances, chitosan (Ch) and its derivative (chitosan oligosaccharides, ChO) have great potential to be used in bone cement.…”

“…polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), is a commonly-used technique with many different methods. [1,2] The application of PMMA with added antibiotics allows high concentrations of medication to be delivered directly to the infection region. [3,4] Since the first use of antibiotics added to PMMA, there have been many articles published about this method.…”
