“…Beta-particle-emitting nuclides 90 Sr and 3 H and alpha-particle-emitting nuclides 238 Pu, 239 Pu, 241 Am, and 244 Cm were analyzed using the conventional method described in previous reports [9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. For the gamma-ray-emitting nuclides 60 Co, 94 Nb, 152 Eu, and 154 Eu and beta-particle-emitting nuclides 14 C, 129 I, 36 Cl, 79 Se, and 99 Tc, the procedure was modified from the conventional method.…”

“…The Re in the Tc-eluted solution was measured using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (Shimadzu Co., ICPS-7510) to determine the chemical yield of Tc. Because there is no stable Tc isotope, the recovery was determined using Re, which behaves in the same manner as Tc [15]. After the Tc-eluted solution was made an addition to Aquasol-2 (PerkinElmer, Inc.), 99 Tc was measured using a liquid scintillation counter (LSC, PerkinElmer, Inc., TriCarb 2910LL).…”

“…Technetium-99 was retained on the resin, and 79 Se was eluted. After the resin was washed with 30 ml of 2 M HNO 3 , Tc was eluted from the resin with 15 ml of 8 M HNO 3 and separated from the other radionuclides [15]. The Re in the Tc-eluted solution was measured using inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (Shimadzu Co., ICPS-7510) to determine the chemical yield of Tc.…”

“…Tc is a pure b À emitter, which can be measured by radiation counting. There are several analytical methods for Tc determination with extremely low limits of detection, like inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), [1][2][3][4][5][6] radiochemical analysis methods, 7,8 total reection X-ray uorescence, 9 and so on. K. L. Shi et al 10 reviewed the studies on the determination of 99 Tc in environmental samples.…”
The quantification of TcO4− in aqueous solutions simply using Raman spectroscopy with NO3− and water as internal standards without a sample preparation step.
Analytical methods have been developed for the simple and rapid determination of radioactive nuclides, which are selected as important nuclides for the safety assessment of the disposal of wastes generated from research facilities. We advanced the development of a high-e‹ciency nondestructive measurement technique for g ray-emitting nuclides, simple and rapid methods for the pretreatment of hard-to-dissolve samples and subsequent radiochemical separation, and rapid determination methods for long-lived nuclides. In order to establish a system to analyze the important nuclides in various kinds of sample, actual radioactive wastes such as concentrated liquid waste, activated concrete, and metal pipes were analyzed by the present method. The results showed that the present method was well suited for a rapid and simple determination of low-level radioactive wastes generated from research facilities.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
