Siliceous‐based monolithic materials coated with a hydroxyapatite layer: Preparation and investigation of drug affinity by Raman spectroscopy

Abstract: Monolithic materials based on silica and hydroxyapatite was applied as tool for investigation of interactions between bone and potential antiresorptive drugs. First type of material was created on the basis of tetramethyl orthosilicate and trimethoxymethylsilane. Second type of material contained additionally chitosan in its structure. Ceramic fraction of monoliths was prepared in two ways: by incorporation of hydroxyapatite during crosslinking or by using soaking method (hydroxyapatite mineralization on the s… Show more

“…Via the Raman spectra of pure silica aerogel, and as-prepared silica aerogel composites with carbon fibers, we can see the visible characteristic bands of silica. The Raman band at 973 cm −1 is related to Si-OH groups, the Raman band at around 800 cm −1 is attributed to the SiO2 network, and the broad band in the range from 200 cm −1 to 500 cm −1 is associated with Si-O-Si groups [38]. In the Raman spectra of AG and AG15%CF, besides the Raman bands of silica, visible Raman bands related to TMCS can be seen.…”

“…Their novel sensor that combines with SERRS and a pretreatment strategy, not only amplifies the Raman signal of norepinephrine but also paves the way for pretreating samples in complex systems. Zielinska et al [ 81 ] used siliceous‐based monolithic materials coated with a hydroxyapatite layer for preparation and measurement of drug affinity by Raman spectroscopy. Several techniques were applied to evaluate the properties of prepared materials, including energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy, SEM, and Raman spectroscopy, which allowed confirmation and characterization of the hydroxyapatite layer.…”
