Silencing of hsa_circ_0101145 reverses the epithelial-mesenchymal transition in hepatocellular carcinoma via regulation of the miR-548c-3p/LAMC2 axis

Abstract: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a primary cause of cancer-related deaths globally. While there have been advancements in HCC treatment and diagnosis, incidence and mortality rates continue to rise. One study found that circular RNAs functioned as competing endogenous RNAs, and constructed a gene-based nomogram to estimate overall survival of HCC patients. Previous studies using high-throughput sequencing suggested that hsa_circ_0101145 is abnormally expressed in HCC, but the underlying mechanism is unknown. … Show more

“…Jin et al. ( 36 ) find that hsa_circ_0101145 is overexpressed in HCC and silencing hsa_circ_0101145 inhibits the deterioration of HCC by targeting the miR-548c-3p/LAMC2 axis. Circ0003998, upregulated in portal vein tumor thrombus HCC tissues, is identified to promote HCC EMT by acting as miR-143-3p sponge to promote an EMT-related stimulator, FOSL2.…”

“…It also inhibited EMT by sponging miR-3200-5p in gastric carcinoma (GC) [ 27 ]. Studies have also found that many circRNAs might function as ceRNAs to promote HCC progression by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway [ 28 , 29 ] and EMT [ 30 , 31 ]. However, whether circMTO1 affects Wnt/β-catenin signaling and EMT in the progression of HCC is not clear.…”
