“…Even during the conflict era, attention to the women who are mainly involved and suffered because of conflict did not get enough attention. This condition, however, left a damaging impact on the contemporary recognition of women combatants.…”

“…This condition, however, left a damaging impact on the contemporary recognition of women combatants. 29 On the other side, some reasons regarding women's degradation in the public sphere are addressed to the formalization of sharia law. As criticized by many scholars or researchers, some Islamic sharia regulation has impeded women's freedom in Aceh through hijab (veil) policy, khalwat, and caning as the sanction.…”

“…
However, the discourse on women from an Islamic perspective still needs to be solved in relation to the interpretation of women's leadership (Marzuki, 2014). The issue of women's leadership is still an exciting discussion and invites controversial debate (Clavé, 2014). Classical Islamic scholars who interpreted Islamic religious texts (Qur'an and Hadith) related to leadership in Islam and prohibited women from being appointed supreme leaders in power caused the controversial debate (Tohet & Maulidia, 2018).In addition, the development of patriarchal culture is very crystallized in people's lives (Alatas, 2023;Arfah, 2023), has resulted in the marginalization of women's roles in the public sphere, and provides excellent opportunities for men to dominate the leadership field in the highest power (Lekchiri & Kamm, 2020;Tohet & Maulidia, 2018), because patriarchal culture has an identical view that men have a superior position (Alotaibi, 2021), while women are placed in an inferior position (Kadir, 2021;Mohd Noor, 2020).
