“…To meet the demands of plasma display panels (PDPs) and Hg-free fluorescent lamps, phosphors with a high quantum efficiency and high vacuum ultraviolet absorption (VUV) are required. Until recently, conventional phosphors Y 2 O 2 S:Eu, Y 2 O 3 :Eu and YBO 3 :Eu are still research objects of PDPs phosphor materials [1,2]. During operation, unfortunately, sulfide phosphors degrade and disperse into the vacuum, rare earth oxyborates have chromaticity and quantum efficiency problems, thus hindering their application to VUV luminescent materials.…”

“…(Y,Gd)BO 3 :Eu has poor color purity because it displays an orange-red emission instead of a red one. BaMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu has low brightness [7][8][9][10]. Therefore, in order to improve the performances of PDPs devices, it is necessary to explore novel phosphors with high luminescent efficiency and stability.…”
