The architecture and service features of a new digital mobile communication switching system are presented. New technologies used in this system include advanced voice coding decoding equipment that allows low-bitrate speech transmission, a speech path monitoring circuit, and a high-quality nonvoice service control scheme.especially useful for handling a large number of subscribers. Narrow-band and low-bitrate transmission technology allows the transmission capacity of a radio link to be increased. And technology for more efficient use of radio channel frequencies, by using smaller zones, is essential for overcoming the lack of available new frequency bands.
