“…In fact, SARS-CoV was associated with a wide spectrum of clinical features-infected people presented initially with fever, myalgia, chills, and rigor and subsequently developed pneu monia. 14,18 Notably, patient 1 had diarrhoea among initial symptoms, a feature not yet reported in patients with MERS-CoV, but present upon admission in a quarter of patients with SARS. 19 Patient 1 died on May 28, and patient 2 remains in the ICU under ECMO.…”

“…32 Despite the use of lung protective IMV with a low tidal volume, barotrauma occurred in 26% of critically ill cases of SARS-CoV infection, possibly owing to decreased lung compliance. 81…”

“…The radiographic features of SARS were similar to viral pneumonia, but ground-glass opacities and focal consolidations as demonstrated in chest radiographs predominantly involved the peripheral and subpleural regions of the lower zones (Grinblat et al, 2003;Hsieh et al, 2004;Lai et al, 2005a). Spontaneous pneumomediastium was found in about 12% of cases , whereas 26% of patients developed barotrauma during mechanical ventilation (Gomersall et al, 2004).…”
