“…In contrast, another group of researchers found evidence of a negative association between accuracy on two behavioral cognitive empathy measures and social anxiety severity in a sample recruited via MTurk and two university research participation pools (Alvi et al, 2020). An additional study focused on nonpsychiatric adolescents, and found no significant associations between social anxiety severity and self-reported cognitive empathy (Nunes et al, 2018).…”

Morrison et al (2016), however, found evidence that individuals with SAD exhibited reduced affective empathy in response to viewing film clips of others' positive but not negative emotions.…”

Here, special attention has been paid to the family, and most of the studies have been focused on examining the parents’ mental health or the parental behaviour which is linked to organising their social life (Knappe et al, 2009).…”

“…Empirical evidence shows that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been shown to be efficacious for SAD and is considered the first-choice psychological intervention for the disorder (American Psychological Association (APA), 2016). However, despite the good results, there is general agreement on the need to improve the range of effectiveness and efficiency of these treatments (Bornas et al, 2017, McAleavey et al, 2014, Nunes et al, 2018, Wersebe et al, 2018a, Wersebe et al, 2018b).…”
