Shock Resistance Improvement of Carbon Steel Carabiners Used at PPE

Abstract: In a continuously changing world where the human operator still plays an important role in most industrial activities, health and safety occupies a fundamental place, with the goal of maintaining workers healthy and in safe condition during their job activities. One of the means that make this goal achievable is the use of adequate personal protective equipment. The carabiners are connecting parts that link the components quickly and reversibly of personal protective equipment used against falls. Thus shackles… Show more

“…Both the molybdenum bisulfate-based oil and the paint used in this study were purchased from the market. The elastomers-based paint is a product used for car paint, which protects against external factors, such as impact with stones or other objects, due to the elasticity it possesses [19][20][21].…”

“…This anomaly could be explained when it is considered that HO − ions are involved in the corrosion process (Fe + 2H 2 O→Fe 2+ + 2OH − + H 2 ), in addition to carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Chen et al [ 28 ] explain the appearance of the inductive loop through a relaxation process, at the level of the surface layer, due to carbon monoxide and some HO − anions in the solution.…”

“…After each stage, the carabiners should be rinsed in water for the removal of the chemical compounds on the surface of the surface, which results from degreasing and pickling. The final stage of the phosphating process, drying, could be performed at room temperature or at slightly high temperatures by means of drying stoves [17,18].…”
