“…Mean number of alleles, observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygosity values obtained in the present study were higher than those of earlier studies (Ben Sassi-Zaidy et al 2014;Gaouar et al 2014Gaouar et al , 2015bGaouar et al , 2016aGaouar et al , 2016bKdidi et al 2015;Guang-Xin et al 2016;Loukovitis et al 2016;Othman et al 2016). On the other hand, Algerian sheep breeds generally showed a high genetic diversity in comparison with the results obtained by Gaouar et al (2014Gaouar et al ( , 2015b on the same breeds.…”

“…Obtained molecular genetic parameters (Na, Ne, PIC and Hª) obtained from this study were higher than previous research (Farid et al 2000;Arranz et al 2001;Santos-Silva et al 2008;Jyotsana et al 2010;Al-Barzinji et al 2011;Hoda & Marsan 2012;Gaouar et al 2014Gaouar et al , 2015bGaouar et al , 2016aGaouar et al , 2016bYilmaz et al 2014;Kdidi et al 2015;Othman et al 2016). These results indicated that microsatellites used in the present study have a high confidence to reveal genetic diversity for these breeds.…”

“…All dromedaries camels reared in Egypt, Iran, Germany and the UK are closely related to each other especially the Egyptian and Iranian camels which showed the complete similarity in PRP sequences. This finding supports the fact that the domestication of livestock including sheep, goat and camel began since around 8000 years in the Fertile Crescent and enter Egypt via Isthmus Suez and Sinai (Othman et al 2016). The hypothesis of PRP sequence conservation between closely related species was declared from this Neighbour joining tree where for example the PRP sequences of sheep (Ovis aries) and goat (Capra hircus) are highly conserved.…”
