Shear Bond Strength of Composite Veneers and Acrylic Veneer Bonded to Ni–Cr Alloy: A Laboratory Study

Abstract: A growing number of composite materials are being used as an alternative for veneering cast restorations. The objective of this investigation was to evaluate and compare the shear bond strength of UDMA based composite, restorative composite, and heat cure acrylic when veneered to Ni-Cr alloy and to evaluate the type of bond failure. Three different veneering materials were used: heat cure acrylic, UDMA based composite and a restorative composite. 10 samples were fabricated, each with heat cure acrylic and rest… Show more

“…Some studies suggested that primers containing MDP or thiophosphate monomer (MEPS) were effective for chemical bonding between resin and Ti (29)(30)(31). The choice of a chemical bonding system for prosthodontic application may depend on factors such as expense, availability, time requirement, and shelf life of the perishable components (32).…”

“…Kompozitler 1960'lı yıllarda kullanılmaya başlanmış; estetik ihtiyaca cevap veren, düşük maliyetli ve uygulanması kolay dental materyallerdir (1,2). Kompozitlerde yaşanan marjinal uyum problemi, arayüzlerde, komşu diş temas ve kontur alanlarında polimerizasyon büzülmesi göstermesi, aşınma direnci yetersizliği sebebiyle alternatif çözümler üretilerek 1980'li yılların ortalarında büyük ve küçük doldurucu partiküllerin karışımından oluşan "hibrit kompozitler" elde edilmiştir (3)(4)(5).…”
