Shallow groundwater quality and associated non-cancer health risk in agricultural areas (Poyang Lake basin, China)

Abstract: Owing to their accessibility, shallow groundwater is an essential source of drinking water in rural areas while usually being used without control by authorities. At the same time, this type of water resource is one of the most vulnerable to pollution, especially in regions with extensive agricultural activity. These factors increase the probability of adverse health effects in the population as a result of the consumption of shallow groundwater. In the present research, shallow groundwater quality in the agri… Show more

“…The chemical composition of irrigation water generally corresponds to the shallow groundwater composition in the Poyang Lake area, including relatively high concentrations of typical pollutants such as K + , Cl -, and SO4 2- [14]. Ion Ca 2+ predominates in its cationic E3S Web of Conferences 222, 05022 (2020) DAIC 2020 https://doi.org/10.1051/e3sconf/202022205022 composition.…”

“…The non-carcinogenic risk of heavy metals in the seasoning powder was calculated using HQ and HI. HQ and HI are used to characterize the health risk of non-cancer adverse effects (Soldatova et al, 2018). HI is the potential risk of adverse health effect from a mixture of heavy metal in the seasoning powder.…”
