Sex differences in tonsillitis

Abstract: Tonsillopharyngitis is a common disease encountered by family physicians and otolaryngologists. Published literature since the 1970s reveals that more females present with this condition and proceed to tonsillectomy compared to males. Female to male ratios published often exceed 2:1. The aim of this review is to highlight some of the theories proposed to explain this sex difference. Хрони ческое воспаление небных миндалин, как правило, разви вается и протекает на фоне нарушений гуморального и клеточного иммунитета с угнетением неспецифических факторов естественной резистентности организма [8][9][10].
