“…The exact physiologic mechanism of zinc, magnesium, and chromium deficiency among T2DM patients is unknown, but high urinary loss has been observed as a result of the osmotic effect of glycosuria 20,25,33. Increased serum iron and ferritin concentrations have been reported to be associated with insulin resistance 3845. Our findings on serum iron and ferritin concentration were inconsistent with the previous findings 3845.…”

“…Increased serum iron and ferritin concentrations have been reported to be associated with insulin resistance 3845. Our findings on serum iron and ferritin concentration were inconsistent with the previous findings 3845. Iron plays an essential role as a cofactor for fuel oxidation and electron transport, but it also has the potential to cause oxidative damage if not carefully regulated and found in excess in the tissue 46.…”

“…Li and Cao for their careful comments [1] to our recent report regarding the association between serum ferritin and diabetes [2]. We agree with the point that metabolic syndrome (MS) components should be taken into account of the analysis or adjusted for as confounders in the multiple regression models.…”

“…[1,2] Given the high prevalence of type 2 diabetes and its complications, investigating its etiology, exploring the most modifiable risk factors, and searching for the predictive clinical parameters are of extreme importance for type 2 diabetes prevention and treatment. [35] Apolipoproteins are the primary structural proteins for lipoprotein particles. Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) is the basic apolipoprotein for low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) and apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) is the major apolipoprotein for high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL).…”
