ABSTRACT. Serological technique for identifying Orpltu/ella pUl/ctata (de Geer) (Orthoptera, Acrididac) prcdators. Females ofOrphu/ella punc/ala (de Geer, 1794) were captured in the tield and kept in cages with food and boxes tilled with moist soil for oviposition. The eggs, macerated with 0,85% saline solution and centrifugated, were used as lhe immunizing antigen for obtention oflhe specitic antiserum (AS-O). Rabbits were immunized by the linphonodule injection method with two injections of this antigen, with an interval of 15 days between lhe IsI and 2 nd inoculations. Serological tests were perfonned using double diffusion in agar gel wilh homologous and heterologous antigens. Specitic serolo~ical reactions were obtained 14 days afier the IsI inoculation. The anliserum ofthe 30 1 day gave 5, 2-4 and 1-4 precipitation lines respeclively with eggs, female and male antigen. Such differences can be attributed to the high speciticity of AS-O. Positive reaclion was observed with arachnids and minneleontids captured in lhe field, indicating the predation on o. punc/a/a.
