Este trabajo presenta la revisión de la literatura que relaciona los desarrollos de los sistemas de calentamiento por inducción. Inicialmente, se presenta una contextualización de la forma general de funcionamiento y se concentra en las características particulares para uso doméstico y de manera más específica en la electrónica de potencia. Se presentan los principios de operación, las topologías de inversores resonantes más usadas (serie, paralelo, híbrida, cuasi-resonante y de un solo interruptor), las estrategias de modulación, estrategias de control usando modulación de frecuencia, por ancho de pulso y por densidad de pulso y las metodologías de conmutación (suave y forzada). Finalmente, se hace un pequeño análisis sobre las áreas donde aún es necesaria la investigación tales como sistemas de calefacción por inducción con múltiples salidas, topologías de inversores de un solo interruptor y los inversores cuasi-resonantes.

A zone-control induction heating (ZCIH) system heats workpieces using several induction coils. To design and control the ZCIH system, parameters such as the self/mutual inductance and self/mutual-equivalent resistance between coils should be obtained in advance. For this purpose, we have proposed a practical method called "multiport transformer model" to reduce the computation time in calculating these parameters. In this study, we compare the parametric result obtained by simulations using the multiport transformer model, with the result obtained through the finite element method (FEM) analysis results and experimental data to validate the computational accuracy of the multiport transformer model. The comparison result shows that the characteristics of the inductance and equivalent resistance calculated by the multiport transformer model are similar to those obtained from the FEM analysis and experimental result. This indicates that our proposed model can contribute to the design optimization and control of a ZCIH system.

For analyzing the transients of induction heating systems, time-dependent phasor transformations were proposed so far in the literature. Applying these transformations to a linear R, L, C circuit equations leads to differential equations in the complex domain from which equivalent circuits modeling the envelopes of sinusoidal waveforms were derived. The present work proposes a phasor transformation which is based on fictitiously replacing the real voltage and current signals of a system by complex ones. It leads to transformed system equations in the real domain where instantaneous amplitudes, phases and frequencies appear explicitly, which makes the transformed equations suitable for the feedback control design. The methodology is applied to a parallel induction heating system in order to design a sliding mode controller. The theory is supported by simulations, experiments and comparisons.
