Novel Phasor Transformation for Feedback Control Design of Induction Heating Systems With Experimental Results

Abstract: For analyzing the transients of induction heating systems, time-dependent phasor transformations were proposed so far in the literature. Applying these transformations to a linear R, L, C circuit equations leads to differential equations in the complex domain from which equivalent circuits modeling the envelopes of sinusoidal waveforms were derived. The present work proposes a phasor transformation which is based on fictitiously replacing the real voltage and current signals of a system by complex ones. It lea… Show more

“…Induction heating is a technique for applications such as forging, surface hardening, and cooking. It is nowadays a very attractive technology due to its high power density that allows fast heating [40]. The main domestic application of induction heating is ISs, which significantly improves safety, cleanness, and efficiency compared to flame or resistance stoves.…”

“…NDUCTION heating technology is widely used in industry, home appliances, and medical applications because of its advantages such as non-contact, safety without using thermal power, rapid heating, and small size [1]. In industrial use, aluminum melting technique using induction heating is typical, contributing to energy saving and safety improvement of factory equipment [2]- [4]. As a typical example of medical applications, induction heating technology is used in thermotherapy equipment for cancer (hyperthermia) [5]- [6].…”

“…The current is in the range of 0 A to 5.5 A, while the voltage is in the range of 0 V to 90 V. This range is considered to be safe for both coils and capacitors. with a phasor transformation [73], [74] and [75] in this section. The control period T equals 16 times the periods of the charging periods [76].…”
