Serial Price Increases: A Survey from Chile

Abstract: ABSTRACT. The authors discuss the possible causes of serial price increases since 1978 from a Chilean perspective. The most important causes are inflation and the increase in the number of pages per serial. Roughly, the average annual increase in serial prices has been 11% in nominal terms, 5% in real terns, and 2% when one adjusts for the increase in the number of pages per serial.
