Sensitivity of Transfer Capability Margins with a Fast Formula

Abstract: Abstract-Bulk power transfers in electric power systems are limited by transmission network security. Transfer capability measures the maximum power transfer permissible under certain assumptions. Once a transfer capability has been computed for one set of assumptions, it is useful to quickly estimate the effect on the transfer capability of modifying those assumptions. This paper presents a computationally efficient formula for the first order sensitivity of the transfer capability with respect to the variati… Show more

“…Only traditional PTDF is required to solve the optimization problem (7). In the cases that only a few generators are to be coordinated with the renewable resources while the other generators unaffected, it only needs to set the weights of the uncoordinated generators to zero and solve the optimization with respect to other weight parameters.…”

“…In [5], advanced software GRIDLAB-D is introduced to provide a tool for modelling, power management and simulation for smart grids. Due to the importance of the sensitivity analysis in power injection and power flow management, quite a few works have been done regarding the sensitivity analysis and computation [6], [7], [8], [9]. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis is more general and its application in power flow management leads to an effective solution.…”
