Neighbourhoods are studies because that is the place people spend the largest portion of their time. That probably explain the interest that researchers and policy makers have developed in neighbourhood satisfaction studies over the last couple of decades. In many studies on neighbourhood satisfaction a diverse range of factors have been identified as playing significant roles in its outcome. These range from the physical attributes of the neighbourhood to demographic factors and also to such concepts as sense of community. This study investigate the combined effect of demographic factors and sense of community elements in predicting neighbourhood satisfaction. The study employed quantitative methods to obtain data on the relevant variables using the survey method. Out of 1400 questionnaires distributed 1132 were returned and analyzed. The study found that of the selected demographic factors only level of education significantly predicted neighbourhood satisfaction. Of the elements of sense of community: membership, integration and fulfillment of needs and shared emotional connection were found to be significant predictors of neighbourhood satisfaction. The study supports earlier studies on certain predictors of neighbourhood satisfaction. While suggesting that many more factors may actually be relevant in its prediction.eISSN: 2398-4287 © 2018. Summary: The article presents a brief analytical overview of a sociological study of the neighborhood relations among residents of the fenced residential areas. The concept of neighborhood is interpreted, and its connection with the concepts of community and space is described. The paper analyzes the previous studies of neighboring relationships, particularly in the fenced areas. It is noted that due to the existence of close and positive neighborhood relations, the fenced areas are really gated communities. The object of the study is a townhouse township Prigorodny Prostor that is adjacent to Novosibirsk. The research method is the content analysis of the forum of residents in this township. The analysis was conducted according to the following criteria: the topics and messages containing a call for residents to make acquaintances with their neighbors and work together, a neighbors' request for help in any issue or an attempt to stop deviant neighbors violating community order. 52 topics containing 3095 messages were selected for the analysis of the neighborhood relations in a gated community. 284 people were their authors. The study revealed that the mutual acquaintance is of particular importance to the residents of the gated community Prigorodny Prostor. It is concluded that mutual assistance is the most common feature of neighboring relations in this community.

Providing quality public housing is one of the main goals of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government. This paper assesses the level of satisfaction with public housing offered by the UAE government to its citizens based on the physical characteristics and traditional social aspects of the housing unit, urban design, and social environment in the residential area, whereas also their contribution to the residents' life quality under overall satisfaction with the place of living. At the same time, the study provides access to sustainability measurements applied at both the environmental and social levels within the Estidama accredited national rating system. The survey results of two residential complexes in Abu Dhabi show that the majority of residents are mostly satisfied, although the overall level of satisfaction with the functionality of the building and public facilities provided was generally higher than that related to the social environment in the residential district. The research focused on the application of new technologies that increase the level of sustainability in future housing projects.
