“…Leiomyosarcoma, a malignant mesenchymal neoplasm exhibiting smooth muscle differentiation at the light microscopic and ultrastructural level, is the most common sarcoma of the urinary bladder,1 although it comprises less than 1% of all malignancies in this anatomical location 2 3. Leiomyosarcomas of the urinary bladder (LMS-UB) most often occur in middle-aged to elderly adults, with a slight male predominance, and frequently present with gross haematuria, dysuria and abdominal pain 4–6.…”

“…Scattered large atypical cells with hyperchromatic nuclei can be seen in elderly males called monstrous cells, which can mimic a tumourous cell. The IHC profile of lining cells shows positivity for AE1/AE3, CK7, p63, CA‐125 and PAX 8, and negativity for PSA, CK20, CDX‐2 and AMACR (Bostwick, ). GATA3 expression has been described in one of the recent reports (Ortiz‐Rey, Chantada‐de la Fuente, Peteiro‐Cancelo, Gómez‐de María, & San Miguel‐Fraile, ) in the normal seminal vesicle epithelium (although no reports in seminal vesicle adenocarcinoma, probably due to its rarity).…”

“…They often present clinically with hematospermia and/or obstructive uropathy (Katafigiotis et al, ). They have poor survival of <3 years in about 95% of the patients (Bostwick, ). Some of these have a questionable diagnosis of histopathology owing to lack of specific IHC marker.…”

“…In addition, immunohistochemical stains were positive for cytokeratin, epithelial membrane antigen, and vimentin, but negative for smooth muscle actin. Therefore, it was diagnosed as MCDK coexistent with MRTK (11). By electron microscopy, tumor cells of usual cases of MRTK form sheetlike patterns, have poorly formed intercellular junctions, abundant mitochondria, and lipid droplets in the cytoplasm, especially prominent aggregates of filaments.…”
