Primary seminal vesicle adenocarcinoma: A case report of rare entity and discussion of its differential diagnosis using immunohistochemical approach for the core biopsy specimen

Abstract: Primary seminal vesicle adenocarcinoma is a rare malignancy of the male genito‐urinary system with only a few confirmed reported cases. Initial tissue diagnostic modality is often a core biopsy specimen. Here, we report this rare entity in a 50‐year‐old male, highlighting the histomorphological and immunohistochemical approach to the core biopsy specimen of the seminal vesicle mass. The patient presented with a history of haematospermia and gross haematuria for one year, and radiological workup was found to ha… Show more

“…Our case showed implantation cyst 24 years after the primary operation, and pathological findings revealed that the primary rectal cancer was a moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma, whereas the second adenocarcinoma arising from the implantation cyst was mucinous adenocarcinoma. Additionally, the tumor was found to be positive for CDX2, a characteristic that can differentiate it from a malignancy originating from the seminal vesicle, which demonstrates a negative CDX2 status 8 . Altogether, our case was not a local recurrence, but a secondary malignant formation from an implantation cyst at the anastomotic site.…”

“…Externally, there is an adventitial layer composed of loose areolar tissue (2,3). Primary adenocarcinoma of seminal vesicles are rare but neoplastic lesions spreading from adjacent organs such as the prostate, urinary bladder and rectum are commonly observed (4,5). Seminal vesicles play a key role in sperm synthesis, consequently diseases affecting this gland result in male infertility.…”
