An infusion pump is a medical device that delivers fluids such as nutrients into a patient’s body in controlled amount. They are widely used in clinical settings such as hospitals, nursing homes etc. There are many types of infusion pumps including large volume, patient-controlled analgesia and insulin pumps. Some are designed mainly for stationary use at a patient’s bedside, because infusion pumps are frequently used to administer critical fluids, including high-risk medications, pump failures and can have significant implications for patient’s safety. From 2005 to 2009, FDA received approximately 56,000 reports of adverse events associated with the use of infusion pumps, including numerous injuries and deaths. Some of the problems include software problems, alarm errors, inadequate design, broken components, battery failures, spark, and shock. In order to overcome these problems, our team came up with an idea to rectify. Our project is very compact in size when compared to the ordinary syringe pump. It can be lifted with single hand since it is weightless and the components used in our project are reliable, cost efficient and user friendly.

Infusion pumps and syringe pumps are devices used to administer liquid medicines to patients. The frequency of using the infusion pump and syringe pump in the long term will affect the accuracy of the tool. Accuracy is very important in dosing to patients in critical conditions who require intensive care to prevent fluid balance in the body. Therefore, periodic calibration of medical devices is required at least once a year. Calibration according to Permenkes No. 54 of 2015 is a calibration activity to determine the correctness of a tool. The purpose of this research is to make an Infusion Device Analyzer (IDA) with a TFT LCD displaying a graph of flowrate parameters. The method used is to analyze the flowrate value using an infrared photodiode sensor and can see the stability of the flowrate graph on a 7-inch TFT LCD from the use of 2 brands of syringes and an infusion set. The results obtained can be stored on the SD Card. The measurement results show that the error in the performance of the syringe and infusion pump read by the module on Channel 1 with the Terumo syringe is 0.15 (10 ml/h), 0.1 (50ml/h) and 0.03 (100ml/h). . On Channel 2 it is 0.02(10ml/hour), 0.03 (50ml/hour) and 0.04(100ml/hour). When using the B-Braun Channel 1 syringe, 0.25 (10ml/h), 009(50ml/h) and 0.08(100ml/h) are used. And on Channel 2 it is 0.62 (10ml/h), 0.15 (50ml/h), and 7.3 (100ml/h). When using the Terumo Channel 1 brand infusion set at 0.05 (10ml/h), 0.3(50ml/h), and 0.04(100ml/h). On Channel 2 it is 0.14(10ml/hour), 0.02 (50ml/hour) and 0.18 (100 ml/hour). When using the B-Braun Channel 1 Infusion Set, it is 0.07(10ml/h), 0.02(50 ml/h), and 0.03 (100ml/h). Then on Channel 2 0.07 (10ml/hour), 0.02(50 ml/hour), and 0.1(100ml/hour). The conclusion of this study is that the use of 2 different infusion sets greatly affects the readings, other than that other factors can also affect the readings including the position of the hose and the placement of sensors on each channel. From the manufacture of this tool, it is expected that users can be more efficient in using a 2-channel Infusion Device analyzer which can be run at the same time.

Infusion is one medical equipment that provides several fluids into the body through a needle into a vein to replace fluids or food substances lost from the body. The use of manual infusion to determine the number of drops given to the patient and the calculation manually. The purpose of this research is to design an automatic infusion flow control device equipped with occlusion detection. This module consists of an Arduino Mega 2560, DC motor (stepper NEMA 17), optocoupler module, 4x4 keypad, and TFT. Infusion drops are detected by the optocoupler sensor. The microcontroller will process the detection results and send a DC motor command to move according to the settings entered. The unit of flow rate used in the module is ml/min. After measuring using an IDA calibration device with the Fluke brand type IDA 4 plus on the occlusion parameter, the average time is 41 seconds and the results of the flow rate have the largest deviation of 0.15 ml/min at the time setting of 6 hours and the volume of 500. While the smallest deviation is 0.12 ml /min on setting time 4 hours and volume 500 ml. From the results of measurements that have been carried out, this module is expected to help nurses regulate the infusion. The results in the future this module can be developed again with the appearance of the flow rate results can be directly displayed without having to wait for the drops to stabilize.
