“…For the HCl + silica group with the 7‐day in situ regimen, only the outer layers, 10 and 25 μ m, presented mean microhardness values that were statistically similar to the control group. These results indicate that the remineralizing process occurs first in the outer layers, possibly due to the topographic characteristics of this region, where Retzius lines have a regular frequency . It is likely that complete recovery of enamel, mainly for the deeper layers, would occur after a few days, as reported in several in situ studies with an experimental phase of 15 days, when cariogenic challenges were evaluated .…”
