Self-Mixing Laser Doppler Spectra of Extracorporeal Blood Flow: A Theoretical and Experimental Study

Abstract: Theoretical and experimental analysis of the spectral characteristics of the signal acquired from self-mixing laser Doppler of extracorporeal blood flow is presented. The theoretical spectrum of the predetected signal is calculated in the single scattering approximation and assuming a parabolic velocity profile in the duct. The resulting signal is mixed in a diode laser cavity to generate the sensor output. Theoretical predictions are verified by measurements performed on blood and phantoms flowing in an extra… Show more

Power spectra for varying concentration rates from 2 to 100% w/w with 50µl/min flow rate sum of Doppler shift contribution to the OFI signal from particles flowing at different positions from one wall to the other in the channel [20], the signals at higher concentrations show a more complex light-particles interaction such as attenuation, multiple scattering [8] , speckle [21], etc . .…”
