Self-Lubricating Cylinder Liner Coatings

Abstract: In-cylinder wear and friction mitigation is essential for high-temperature, low-heat-rejection (LHR) engines. Under these extreme conditions, the piston ring/cylinder liner interface operates at oil-starved conditions. Surfaces Research has developed superior self-lubricating cylinder liner composite coatings containing novel solid lubricants to improve wear and friction under these conditions.
