“…Finally, the creative combination of catalytic units with self-assembling motifs offers a promising approach to develop sustainable biocatalysts. Recent examples include the use of photoactive units [ 127 , 128 , 129 , 130 ]. In particular, the use of photo-responsive moieties has been applied to organic transformations [ 127 , 128 ], such as cis-trans alkene photoisomerization [ 127 ] and photo-oxidation of organic sulfides to sulfoxides [ 128 ] and to hydrogen production [ 129 , 130 ].…”

We can anticipate that in the future, photo-organocatalysis coupled with the chiral nature of peptides to attain stereoselectivity could open up very interesting avenues to render further industrial processes more sustainable for the benefit of the whole society.…”

“…In the last few decades, short peptide-based supramolecular hydrogels 1–14 have received significant attention as biomaterials. 1,15–18 Among all the small molecules, amino acid containing peptide gelators play a vital role in the biomaterials field due to their biocompatibility, biodegradability, low fabrication cost, and control over functionality.…”
