Selective Dissolution of A‐Site Cations in ABO3 Perovskites: A New Path to High‐Performance Catalysts

Abstract: Selective dissolution is a common corrosion process in dealloying in which an alloy is immersed in acid to remove the active element, leaving behind an inert constituent. We introduce this technique into the treatment of oxide catalysts. A three-dimensionally ordered macroporous LaMnO3 perovskite has been prepared and treated with diluted HNO3 to selectively remove La cations, acquiring a novel γ-MnO2-like material. LaMnO3 is not a satisfactory catalyst on CO oxidation. Upon the removal of La cations, the obta… Show more

“…S6B). The above results confirm both 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 and 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 -PW 11 possess clear macroporous structure [27]. The surface area, pore volume and pore diameter of 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 and 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 -PW 11 are shown in Table S1.…”

“…S16). The oxygen desorption at low temperature ( < 400°C) is ascribed to adsorbed oxygen (O ads ), and the lattice oxygen (O latt ) starts to be released at high temperature ( > 400°C) [27]. The oxygen desorption at 341°C can only be observed in 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 -PW 11 , indicating the amounts of O ads in 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 -PW 11 are much more than those in 3DOM g-C 3 N 4 and K-PW 11 .…”

“…In Figure 2B, O 1s has signals at BE values of 529.9 and 531.6 eV, which correspond to surface lattice oxygen (O latt ) and surface adsorbed oxygen (O ads ), respectively. 51,52 The dominant source of O ads is originate from the As(III) and As(V), which exists as H 3 AsO 3 and H 2 AsO 4 − under the experiment condition (pH 6). And the O latt is belonging to the ZCNs itself, and it will remains invariant during the adsorption process.…”

“…Li and his coworkers introduced this technique for the treatment of three-dimensionally ordered macroporous LaMnO 3 perovskite with dilute HNO 3 , acquiring a novel γ-MnO 2 -like material after the selective removal of La cations [34]. This novel sample showed a significantly higher catalytic activity for CO oxidation than the initial precursor LaMnO 3 and ordinary γ-MnO 2 oxide, which was predominantly attributed to its large specific surface area and high degree of mesoporosity.…”
