Selective detection of trinitrophenol by a Cd(ii)-based coordination compound

Abstract: A Cd(ii)-based coordination compound, [CdI2(4-nvp)2] (1), has been synthesized using CdI2 and monodentate N-donor ligand 4-(1-naphthylvinyl)pyridine (4-nvp).

“…The condensation of 4,4-Di formylTriphenylamine and1-(hydrazonomethyl)naphthalene-2-ol in 1 : 2 molar ratio synthesizes the probe H 2 L. (Scheme S1). The probe H 2 L shows relatively better solubility in CDCl 3 , so the probe has been well characterized by 1 HNMR and 13 CNMR in CDCl 3 solvent. 1 HNMR (CDCl 3 ) of the probe represents a strongly deshielded singlet peak at 13.440 ppm for the phenolic (À OH) proton.…”

“…The signals from 8.186 to 7.207 ppm represent the protons of aromatic region of the molecule. ( Figure S1) 13 CNMR (CDCl 3 ) of the probe H 2 L includes a signal at 161.13 to 160.79 ppm which corresponds for two imine carbon (CH=N) and phenolic (CÀ OH) peaks. The peaks at 150.01 and 146.28 ppm may be due to CÀ N carbon of triphenyl fragment.…”

“…[12][13][14][15][16] Recently, the fabrication of coordination compounds that exhibit sensing applications in the detection of ions/molecules becomes another active field of research. [17][18] This application has been established as the active interest in the field of chemistry, physics, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, and many other branches of technology. The activity of a chemical sensor classically involves the incessant monitoring of the action of a chemical species in a given medium such as solution, blood, tissue, air, drinking water, and waste effluents.…”
