“…LT 50 values of CLO 53 for H. philanthus at 20°C were 7 weeks at the concentration 10 6 conidia/g soil. The studies of Rath et al (1995a) and Theunis and AloaliÕi (1998) demonstrated that at 20°C the LT 50 for thirdinstar A. couloni and Papuana uninodis Dynastinae (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) was 3.5-4.0 weeks at the same concentration. This discrepancy may be explained by differences in origin of both the fungi and the insect.…”

“…Metarhizium anisopliae and B. bassiana are naturally associated with SPW and have been reported to cause 70 -80% mortality (Su et al, 1988;Rana and Villacarlos, 1991;Ondiaka et al, 2008). In PNG, field infections of M. anisopliae have been reported on coconut pests (Prior and Arura, 1985), sugarcane borer (Sesamia grisescens) (Arzumanov et al, 2005) and taro beetles (Papuana uninodis) (Theunis and Aloali'i, 1998). In the Bundaberg area of Queensland, Australia, where sweet potato is cultivated commercially, natural infection by M. anisopliae has been associated with sugarcane white grubs (Antitrogus consanguineus) (Allsopp et al, 1994).…”

“…This entomopathogenic fungus has been currently observed in several scarabaeid beetles species [31], [32], [33] including T. lusitanicus (personal observation) what it is important to assure the pathogenic capacity of the conidia formulation. We examined temporal changes in the total protein contents, proPO, PO and variation in the mortality rates of inoculated individuals submitted to diets based on acorns or cow dung.…”
