Selecting placement sites for student teachers and pre‐student teachers: Six considerations

Abstract: The literature on field placement practices suggests that colleges and universities base placement decisions for both pre-student teaching and student teaching on six distinctive considerations. This manuscript summarizes the six considerations that appear to be operating: (a) diversity, (b) collaboration, (c) cooperating teacher preparation, (d) challenging belief, (e) mentor matching, and (f) clustering.
