“…Structural and stratigraphic well correlation is pivotal in mapping the vertical and lateral variation and distribution of a particular formation in terms of variation in thickness and depositional extent (Yilmaz, 2001). Seismic structural and stratigraphic interpretation is quite effective in mapping the accurate depth and lateral extent of a reservoir formation (Rezaee, 2015;Aziz et al, 2018). Seismically derived isochron and isopach mapping integrated with tracking the lateral variation of a seismic signature is effective in resolving the depositional architecture, provenance, seismic terminations, and thickness variation trend of a particular reservoir formation beyond the well control (Toosy et al, 2021).…”

“…One-dimensional maturity modeling of the Sembar Formation suggests that this formation is sufficiently mature to be exploited for its shale gas potential, and it can also charge sand intercalations for a successful petroleum play (Qayyum et al, 2016). Environment of deposition, thermal maturity, mineralogy, and effective reservoir parameters like thickness and porosity proved the Sembar Formation as an ideal prospect for its shale gas potential (Aziz et al, 2018).…”

“…These rivers played a significant role to feed the deltas along the edge of the Indo‐Tethyan Ocean (Biswas, 1999; Mukherjee, 1983). Throughout the Lower Cretaceous epoch, elevated areas and local highs contributed sedimentary deposits to the basins in western India as well as the Indus Basin, extending into present‐day Pakistan (Figure 12; after Aziz et al, 2018; Beaumont et al, 2019, 2023; Bhatt et al, 2016; Biswas, 1999; Bladon et al, 2015; Dolson et al, 2015; Imraz et al, 2013). Most researchers believed that sediments of the WIRBs are mostly sourced from the ADFB and other palaeohighs situated to the north and east of the basinal area (Figure 12; Ahmad & Akhtar, 1990; Akhtar & Aquil, 1984; Biswas, 1987; Beaumont et al, 2019, 2023; Chaudhuri, Das, et al, 2020; Chaudhuri et al, 2023).…”
