“…Parotid hemangiomas present as a rapidly growing mass in the preauricular area. They may be part of a segmental V3 hemangioma, in which case there is invariably cutaneous involvement and, in 29% of cases, airway involvement,11 or they may be isolated focal hemangiomas. Focal hemangiomas are located only in the parotid region involving the parotid gland.…”

“…The segmental distribution of hemangiomas can also be found within the upper aerodigestive tract. In these patients, superficial and flat lesions are present along the mucosal surfaces of the floor of mouth, lip, tongue, pharynx, hypopharynx, and larynx (O et al , 2009). Rarely are the flat lesions symptomatic unless the trachea or subglottis is involved.…”

“…All subjects underwent direct laryngoscopy and rigid bronchoscopy by a pediatric otolaryngologist and pediatric anesthesiologist. Airway hemangiomas were photo‐documented and classified as focal or segmental 9, 14. Prior studies defined focal airway hemangiomas as limited to the subglottis and segmental airway hemangiomas as located outside of the subglottis 9, 14.…”

Prior studies defined focal airway hemangiomas as limited to the subglottis and segmental airway hemangiomas as located outside of the subglottis 9, 14. For this study, we further classified subglottic hemangiomas as unilateral, bilateral, or circumferential.…”
