Seeing phi mesons through dileptons

Abstract: Dilepton spectra from the decay of phi mesons produced in heavy-ion collisions at SIS/GSI energies (∼ 2 GeV/nucleon) are studied in the relativistic transport model. We include phi mesons produced from baryon-baryon, pion-baryon, and kaon-antikaon collisions. The cross sections for the first two processes are obtained from an one-boson-exchange model, while that for the last process is taken to be the Breit-Wigner form through the phi meson resonance. For dileptons with invariant mass near the phi meson peak, … Show more

“…The viscous effect can further affect dilepton production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, which has been suggested as a possible tool to probe the properties of quark-gluon plasma [11][12][13][14][15][16] as well as those of hot dense hadronic matter [17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. As shown in Ref.…”

“…According to Ref. [45], including medium effects would lead to a broadening of dilepton invariance spectrum near phi meson peak due to the increase in its decay width as well as a shoulder structure below the bare phi meson mass as a result of the dropping phi meson in-medium mass. Also, it was shown in Ref.…”
