“…Previous studies showed that SR of perennial grasses decreases with grazing pressure (Leder et al, 2015), but SR of N. tenuis was higher in grazed patches. These results disagree with our first hypothesis and show that generalizations based on functional groups are not always appropriate.…”

“…Previous studies in similar systems suggested that most of SSB is located at 3 cm deep (Caballero et al, 2008). Samples were taken at the beginning of the autumn (April 2013) after perennial grasses seed rain (Leder et al, 2015) and before its recruitment (Leder et al, 2021). All samples were washed and sieved with a 500-µm sieve, dried on a stove at 50°C, and observed under a stereoscopic microscope.…”

“…Grazing disturbance is a key driver for the development of similarity among the seed rain, seed bank and aboveground plant community (An et al, 2022). Grazing can change the plant community composition, as well as the life history and reproductive strategy, thereby changing species composition, species richness and seed density of seed rain and seed bank and ultimately affecting the similarity (Leder et al, 2015; Ma et al, 2013). For example, grazing disturbance increases the similarity of species composition between seed rain (Chaudron et al, 2016), seed bank (Matus et al, 2005) and aboveground plant communities due to an increase in some species that rely on seed reproduction in the plant community.…”
