Secure message transmission in mobile ad hoc networks

Abstract: The vision of nomadic computing with its ubiquitous access has stimulated much interest in the Mobile Ad Hoc Networking (MANET) technology. However, its proliferation strongly depends on the availability of security provisions, among other factors. In the open, collaborative MANET environment practically any node can maliciously or selfishly disrupt and deny communication of other nodes. In this paper, we present and evaluate the Secure Message Transmission (SMT) protocol, which safeguards the data transmissio… Show more

“…SSP [11] is a secure single-path protocol that relies on an end-to-end security association; it transmits packets across a route calculated over the connectivity the underlying route discovery provides (typically, protocols such as SRP). The destination validates received data and responds with acknowledgements; if not, the source detects a packet loss.…”

“…Due to denial of service attacks, the cryptographic protection is not feasible and this simple discards the data packets. [9]. Secure communication in mobile ad hoc Network is a very important issue because of the active nature of the network topology.…”
