Secure Beamforming for MIMO Broadcasting With Wireless Information and Power Transfer

Abstract: This paper considers a basic MIMO information-energy broadcast system, where a multi-antenna transmitter transmits information and energy simultaneously to a multi-antenna information receiver and a dual-functional multi-antenna energy receiver which is also capable of decoding information. Due to the open nature of wireless medium and the dual purpose of information and energy transmission, secure information transmission while ensuring efficient energy harvesting is a critical issue for such a broadcast syst… Show more

“…In all simulations, we set P = 23 dBW, P i = 16 dBW ∀i ∈ I, P i,j U = 10 dBW ∀(i, j U ) ∈ S 2 , ∀i ∈ I ,ζ = 0.5, σ D ). Unless stated otherwise, we set e min = −20 dBm as in [7], [33]. According to the current state-of-the-art-electronic circuitry, the sensitivity level of a typical energy harvester is around -20 dBm (0.01mW) [34], which means that we can activate the EH circuitry with that much amount of received power.…”

“…In practice, the energy receivers (ERs) are usually deployed closer to the base station (BS) than the information receivers (IRs). So that, ERs can easily eavesdrop the confidential message intended for IRs when they are not harvesting the RF energy as scheduled, and thus gives rise to a secrecy precoding problem in the MIMO SWIPT systems, which is so important and has recently been considered in [3]. However, such an important secrecy precoding problem for MIMO SWIPT system is still not considered under a cognitive scenario, which has potential to be a major paradigm in the future wireless networks.…”

“…Hence, we can find λ opt by solving problem (26) with one dimensional search techniques such as the bisection method [29]. Finally, we can obtain the solution of V by substituting λ opt into (23).…”
