We calculate the electromagnetic (EM) decay widths of the B ± c (2S) meson, which is observed recently by the ATLAS Collaboration. The main EM decay channels of this particle are 1 3 S 1 γ and 1P γ, which, in literature, are estimated to have the branching ratio of about 1/10. In this work, we get the partial decay widths: Γ(2 1 S 0 → 1 3 S 1 γ) = 0.192 keV, Γ(2 1 S 0 → 1P 1 γ) = 2.24 keV and Γ(2 1 S 0 → 1P ′ 1 γ) = 11.4 keV. In the calculation, the instantaneous approximated Bethe-Salpeter method is used. For the P -wave B c mesons, the wave functions are given by mixing the 3 P 1 and 1 P 1 states. Within the Mandelstam formalism, the decay amplitude is given, which includes the relativistic corrections.

Rare meson decay through off-shell doubly charged scalars

The presence of charged scalars is almost inevitable in most of the beyond standard model scenarios. They are expected to be detected easily if they are there due to their electromagnetic charge. These charged scalars can be produced at the LHC and their decays may lead to interesting signals-multilepton final states, displaced vertices, etc. These charged particles also play crucial roles in low energy rare processes. Thus apart from the collider searches in low energy rare processes their presence can be smelled. Here, we have noted the impact of doubly charged scalars in rare meson decays. As the mesons are lighter these heavy scalars always appear off shell. Due to their off-shell structure the phase space is relatively complicated to deal with. In this paper we have supplemented a general proposal to compute these decays that involve off-shell doubly charged scalars. We have argued that our prescription can be used for any process involving off-shell heavy scalars. Using the prescribed method we have computed two possible meson decays: M ± -► I f l j M '11, M ± -» I f ljlfJ n M '^. We have also estimated the numerical values of the branching ratios in different channels for different charged mesons.

B meson semi-leptonic rare decays are sensitive to new physics beyond standard model. We study the B − → π − µ + µ − process and investigate the Majorana neutrino contribution to its decay width. The constraints on the Majorana neutrino mass and mixing parameter are obtained from this decay channel with the latest LHCb data. Utilizing the best fit for the parameters, we study the lepton number violating decay B − → π + µ − µ − , and find its branching ratio is about 6.4 × 10 −10 , which is consistent with the LHCb data reported recently.
