Seamless Pipes Manufacturing Process Improvement Using Mandreling

Abstract: The paper discusses the specific aspects of hot rolled seamless pipes manufacture using pipe rolling plants including screw-rolling mills. The method of accuracy enhancement of pipe dimensions, as well as external and internal surface quality improvement, is proposed. The article specifies the results of computer and physical modeling of the pipes mandreling process. The application of the mandreling process within the cage using different diameter mandrels is shown. We managed to decrease the typical mark cau… Show more

“…Miguel [12] analyzed the shape of steel tubes, the distribution of stress-strain fields, and the transverse wall thickness of rolled products under different roll groove designs using the finite element method. Goncharuk [13] proposed methods to improve the dimensional accuracy of pipes and the quality of their inner and outer surfaces using computer physics modeling techniques. Chu [14] compared numerical simulation data of the tube rolling process under different process parameters.…”

“…Due to the market growth and demand for high-quality products, tubular manufacturers as well as service pipeline systems shall keep steady developing. Steel pipes used in different industries are classified into seamless [1][2][3][4] and welded pipes [5][6][7][8] depending on the manufacturing process. Currently, seamless pipes are widely used in various industries due to high strength under high pressure and other properties including corrosion resistance as compared to welded pipes [9,10].…”
