Grande parte da conscientização da sociedade em relação aos objetivos de desenvolvimento sustentável foi fomentada pelos programas das Nações Unidas (ONU), organizações não-governamentais e movimentos sociais que eles inspiraram. Dentro do fluxo de mudanças sociais ocorridas após a Segunda Guerra Mundial, a iniciativa de comércio justo inovou como movimento social, oferecendo um modelo de comércio internacional para fazer a diferença na vida dos produtores. As principais organizações de comércio justo trouxeram valores de responsabilidade social ao abordar metas como o alívio da pobreza; redução das desigualdades de mercado Norte-Sul; proteção do meio ambiente; condições justas de trabalho; promoção do consumo e produção responsáveis; e segurança alimentar. Atendendo a esses objetivos, o movimento de comércio justo pode ser alinhado aos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) estabelecidos pela ONU em 2015; e com as três dimensões da sustentabilidade. Essas sinergias podem ser demonstradas nos relatórios de responsabilidade social e sustentabilidade das organizações de comércio justo. Os materiais e métodos deste artigo incluíram uma revisão dos relatórios de responsabilidade social corporativa e sustentabilidade das principais organizações de comércio justo desde 2000 até a presente data. Os resultados mostram uma consistência entre os termos comuns aos objetivos relatados sobre o comércio justo e os ODS. Uma análise comparativa indica o espectro de tópicos de sustentabilidade abordados progressivamente pelo movimento de comércio justo desde pelo menos o ano 2000. Esta revisão pode contribuir para orientar políticas governamentais e empresas com foco social para promover metas de sustentabilidade por meio de inovações nos sistemas alimentares, contribuindo para uma agricultura sustentável e o desenvolvimento rural.

The integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into oil and gas operations represents a critical pathway towards achieving environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and economic viability within the industry. This comprehensive review examines the methodologies, challenges, and successes of incorporating the United Nations’ SDGs into the operational frameworks of oil and gas companies. It seeks to elucidate the strategic alignments and operational adjustments necessary for the industry to contribute effectively to the global sustainability agenda. The review begins by outlining the relevance of each of the 17 SDGs to the oil and gas sector, highlighting specific goals where the industry has a significant impact, such as affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), decent work and economic growth (SDG 8), industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9), and climate action (SDG 13). It further explores the dual role of the oil and gas sector in both contributing to and mitigating against environmental challenges, underscoring the importance of transitioning towards more sustainable practices. Subsequently, the paper presents various strategies and initiatives oil and gas companies have adopted to integrate SDGs into their operations. These include enhancing energy efficiency, investing in renewable energy sources, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving safety standards, and fostering community engagement and economic development. The review critically assesses the effectiveness of these strategies, drawing on case studies and empirical data to highlight progress and identify areas for improvement. Moreover, the review addresses the challenges faced by the industry in aligning with the SDGs, such as technological limitations, regulatory hurdles, financial constraints, and the need for cultural change within organizations. It emphasizes the role of innovation, collaboration, and governance in overcoming these challenges. Finally, the review offers recommendations for oil and gas companies seeking to advance their contribution to the SDGs. It argues for a holistic approach that integrates sustainability into core business strategies, promotes transparency and accountability, and leverages partnerships with governments, civil society, and other industries. By doing so, the oil and gas sector can play a pivotal role in driving global progress towards sustainable development. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been an articulated practice for over 7 decades. Still, most corporations lack an integrated framework to develop a strategic, balanced, and effective approach to achieving excellence in CSR. Considering the world’s critical situation during the COVID-19 pandemic, such a framework is even more crucial now. We suggest subsuming CRS categories under Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) be used and that they subsume CSR categories since SDGs are a comprehensive agenda designed for the whole planet. This study presents a new CSR drivers model and a novel comprehensive CSR model. Then, it highlights the advantages of integrating CSR and SDGs in a new framework. The proposed framework benefits from both CSR and SDGs, addresses current and future needs, and offers a better roadmap with more measurable outcomes.
