Screening of Some Sunflower (Helianthus annuus Linnaeus Compositae) Genotypes Against Insect Pests

Abstract: Six different genotypes of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) were screened against Aphids (Aphis gossypii), whitefly (Bemisia tabaci), leaf miner (Phytomyza atricornis), green leaf hoppers (Empoasca spp.), painted bugs (Bagrada spp.), and sunflower seed weevil (Smicronyx spp.) at, early, growing and anthesis stages. The results concluded that SMH-9707 was found partially resistant against aphids, whereas SF-187 was found less-susceptible against leaf miner and resistant against whitefly. Suncross-24 was found h… Show more

“…In light of these studies and our own investigation, further research is needed to understand the interactions between L. striatellus , grasses or weeds (located within or around vineyards) and grapevine in GY epidemiology. Different species of Circulifer , such as C. tenellus and C. haematoceps , have been described as vectors of phytoplasmas belonging to taxonomic groups 16SrI, 16SrII, 16SrVI and 16SrIX (Aslam et al, 2021; Salehi et al, 2017). Thus, “ Ca .…”

“…'Candidatus Phytoplasma australasiaticum' is associated with many diseases of a broad range of hosts and over a broad geographic range, including Australia, India, Iran, Oman, and Pakistan, and Turkey [21,22,25]. Insects in the family Cicadellidae have been identified as putative vectors for 16SrII-D subgroup members, including Orosius lotophagorum (Kirkaldy), O. argentatus (Lachlan), O. orientalis (Matsumura), as well as Austroagallia torrida (Evans), Neoaliturus (Circulifer) tenellus (Baker), and Neoaliturus haematoceps (Mulsant and Rey) [20,26,[95][96][97][98][99].
