Screening and quantification of anticancer compounds in traditional Chinese medicine by hollow fiber cell fishing and hollow fiber liquid/solid‐phase microextraction

Abstract: Hollow fiber cell fishing, based on HepG-2, SKOV-3, and ACHN cancer cells, and hollow fiber liquid/solid microextraction with HPLC were developed and introduced for researching the anticancer activity of Rhizoma Curcumae Longae, Radix Curcumae, and Rhizoma Curcumae. The structures of curcumin, demethoxycurcumin, and bisdemethoxycurcumin screened were identified and their contents were determined. The compound target fishing factors and cell apoptosis rates under the effect of the three medicines were determine… Show more

“…Nevertheless, up to now, QC methods for Radix Curcumae and Rhizoma Curcumae have not been reported in ChP. So as to further verify the reliability of the proposed approach , we compared the curcumin content, in Rhizoma Curcumae Longae , determined by the approach, not only with the ChP method but also with the hollow fiber liquid/solid microextraction (HFL/SME) coupled with HPLC (in Table ). The results showed no significant difference (95% confidence level) in their precisions and accuracies between the approach and HFL/SME coupled with HPLC, as well as the approach and the ChP method.…”

“…Over the past years, a wide range of pharmacological activities of curcuminoids have been extensively studied, such as anti‐inflammatory , anti‐oxidant , anti‐cancer , anti‐viral, and wound healing . The trace levels of curcumin, DMC and BDMC quantified simultaneously in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) are rarely reported .…”

“…Thus, the development of sensitive and specific analytical procedure for the separation and quantification of TAM is necessary. Several sample pretreatment techniques such as SPE , online extraction , hollow fiber/solid‐phase microextraction and SPE have been reported for isolation and preconcentration of TAM from different matrices. Among these techniques, SPE is a common surface‐dependent method for preconcentration and purification of TAM.…”
