Abstract:The apparent simplicity of scratch deformation is deceiving. The viscoelastic nature and complex constitutive behavior of polymers contribute to the complexity of the scratch testing and analysis. This article discusses how various experimental factors and material parameters influence the scratch behavior of polymers. Furthermore, significant advances have been made in the modeling of polymer scratch behavior using finite element methods, which supplements the experimental findings to offer a comprehensive un… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
