l‐Proline‐functionalized Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a novel magnetic chiral catalyst for the direct asymmetric Mannich reaction

Abstract: L-Proline has been successfully anchored on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles and characterized using powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometry and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. These nanoparticles as a chiral catalyst have been employed to promote the direct asymmetric Mannich reaction. The corresponding products are obtained in high yields with high level of diastereoselectivity (up to 99:1 dr) in the presence of Fe 3 O 4 -L-proline. Also this hetero… Show more

“…Fe3O4@L-proline was produced according to the method reported by Safaei-Ghomi [36]. In a 250 mL beaker containing distilled water (120 mL), FeCl3 (0.97 g), FeSO4.7H2O (0.9 g) and L-proline (0.9 g), a solution of 1.5 M NH4OH (120 mL) were added dropwise with vigorous stirring at 100 °C under N2 atmosphere until the pH was raised to 11 and a black precipitate was formed.…”

“…One-pot tricomponent Mannich-reactions using catalysts prepared by anchoring L-Pro over Fe 3 O 4 MNPs (CT8*) were also studied. 154 Although good yields and high anti/syn isomer ratios were obtained, the enantioselectivity values were not reported.
