In line with the recent research and debates about econophysics and financial economics, this article discusses on usual misunderstandings between the two disciplines in terms of modelling and basic hypotheses. In the literature devoted to econophysics, the methodology used by financial economists is frequently considered as a top-down approach (starting from a priori "first principles") while econophysicists rather present themselves as scholars working with a (empirical data prone) bottom-up approach. Although this dualist perspective is very common in the econophysics literature, this paper claims that the distinction is very confusing and does not permit to reveal the essence of the differences between finance and econophysics. The distinction between these two fields is mainly investigated here through the lens of the Efficient Market Hypothesis in order to show that, in substance, econophysics and financial economics tend to have a similar approach implying that the misunderstanding between these two fields at the modelling level can therefore be overstepped.JEL classification: G1, B4, B5

Knowledge is created through discourse in ba that is the physical, mental and/or virtual arena of knowledge creation. This article studies ba in international humanist (H-group), technical (T-group) and scientific (S-group) research groups. These international groups consist of members originating from many countries. The empirical evidence is derived from interviews and discourse analysis of three research groups from the University of Oulu which, by staff, is the most international large university in Finland. The article advances understanding of ba by considering the theory of ba in relation to the discourse and exploratory case study. In the case groups, ba is formed in relation to the knowledge type created, suitable characteristics of a group member and structural factors related to administrative responsibilities. Humanist knowledge, with abstract concepts and philosophical discussions, is created with deeper attention to language and social bonds inside the H-group than the more accurate scientific and technical knowledge in the S-and T-groups.

As escalasforam respondidas por 298 estudantes do primeiro ano de Ciências Exatas e Naturais (CEN), Ciências Sociais e Humanas (CSH) e Engenharias (ENG) de universidades públicas e privadas do norte do estado de São Paulo, Brasil. Os resultados mostram uma população com uma atitude para C & T moderadamente positiva (m = 3,41 / 3; dp = 0,37) e um conhecimento de C & T levemente baixo (m = 7,76 / 8, dp = 2,22). Foram encontradas diferenças atitudinais baixas entre CNE e CSH públicas, com CNE mais positivos. Os ingressantes da universidade pública tiveram resultados superiores em conhecimento que os da privada, mas ao avaliar conhecimento dos métodos e a natureza da ciência, a diferença não foi significativa. Sexo (homens mais confiantes e informados que mulheres) teve um efeito demográfico moderado, enquanto religião (agnósticos, espíritas e ateus mais informados e confiantes que católicos e evangélicos) e frequência religiosa (mais informação e melhor atitude enquanto menos frequência de culto religioso) tiveram um efeito baixo, porém significativo. Detectou-se quatro fatores importantes para ACT com . Little attitudinal differences between NS and SC from public universities were found. First-year student from public university perform better than those from privates in knowledge scale, but when methodological and epistemic knowledge was tested separated, just NS from public institutions perform slightly better than the other five groups. Gender (men more positive and more informed that women) had a moderate demographic effect, while religion (agnostics, spiritualists and atheist more positive and informed than catholics and evangelicals) and religious frequency (more information and better attitude while less frequency of religious cults) had a low but significant effect.Psychometrically, four important...
