Scientometric analysis of research on Zika virus

Abstract: The research productivity on Zika virus (ZV) had been evaluated applying scientometrics. The different aspects of scientific literature on the subject under study accessible through 'Scopus' were explored. An advanced search was conducted in the database for 'Zika' and 'Virus' as main operators for analytical purposes. Search terms were connected using Boolean Operator 'AND' to retrieve relevant records. The search results were further filtered for journals articles. A total of 573 ZV associated records were r… Show more

“…All leishmaniasis research publications published between January 1998 and December 2017 indexed on the Scopus database were analysed while the ones published in 2018 were excluded because Scopus as a secondary source has not yet archived all the publications from the primary sources for this year. The Scopus was used because it is the most widely accepted and frequently used database for analysis of scientific publications in different fields [22,[31][32][33][34]. The search was completed in November 2018.…”

“…De estas leyes, la de Lotka fue la primera en ser propuesta en 1926 y análisis posteriores han demostrado una relación funcional común con la ley de Bradford y la ley de Zipfs (Chen & Leimkuhler, 1986). En la actualidad, en distintas disciplinas se busca visualizar cómo se ajustan los datos de material bibliográfico con la ley de Lotka (v. e. Naqvi & Fatima, 2017;Singh, 2016;Zhang et al, 2018).…”

“…The fast increase in the number of basic researches on Zika from 2015 to May of 2016 has been attributed mainly to its association with microcephaly [6]. However, from then on, only a few core journals have published on Zika [7].…”

“…Since the PHEIC declaration, science studies on ZVI have mostly focused on the scientific networks and their collaboration measured by their co-publications. Some studies have adopted bibliometric or scientometric perspectives, analysing papers and other documents to discuss aspects such as co-authorship, cooperative networks and the innovative potential of the ZVI topic [7][8][9][10]. In Maia et al [11], a first study on the scientific networks organized around ZVI and their most influential researchers used Social Network Analysis to map the co-authorship networks of Zika papers published in 2015/2016.…”
