Schwarzschild spacetime immersed in test nonlinear electromagnetic fields

Abstract: Kerr black hole immersed in test, asymptotically homogeneous magnetic field, aligned along the symmetry axis, is described by Wald's solution. We show how this solution may be generalized for nonlinear electromagnetic models via perturbative approach. Using this technique we find the lowest order correction to Wald's solution on Schwarzschild spacetime in Euler-Heisenberg and Born-Infeld models. Finally, we discuss the problem of highly conducting star in asymptotically homogeneous magnetic field.

“…For instance, this type of non-minimal coupling naturally comes as a consequence of the effect of QED vacuum polarization on curved spacetime. We note that in the setting of Schwarzschild spacetime near the horizon one could also expect other effects beyond standard electrodynamics to manifest, such as some non-linear effects [67]. With an aim to study this effect in a setting which is relevant for the astrophysical application, we have considered the case of non-minimal coupling between magnetic fields and gravity on Schwarzschild spacetime in the weak magnetic field limit.…”

“…In this paper, we use perturbative results from Ref. [85] to give the effective metric for photons moving around Schwarzschild black holes immersed in BI uniform magnetic fields. In fact, the first-order perturbative gauge field takes the form…”

“…Over the years quest for a regular black hole solutions became intertwined with proliferation of new NLE theories based on various Lagrangian functions, such as logarithmic [107], hyperbolic tangent [3], power [58,59], exponential [63] and so on. We note in passing that Wald's solution [118], describing black hole immersed in a homogeneous magnetic field, has been recently perturbatively generalized to NLE theories [14].…”
